(24,790 posts)write to my sister to ask how I can get genealogical info on our family! She is older and knows some, but I think in an effort to leave the past behind (common), and to Americanize, it was not discussed in our home. I was born in 1955. All 4 grandparents were Jews born in Russia. My parents raised me in a humanist "denomination." There was some cultural Judaism at home, but no religion. We celebrated a secular Christmas, singing both Joy to the World and My Dreidel. Later my parents attended a Unitarian Universalist fellowship. Thus, any connection to my roots would require me to seek it out. Which I have not. Feels like this is the time.
