Nazareth Thread. No I will not post "Love Hurts"

They rock hard in the 21st century too

They used to rock back in the day too

I love the drummer on this song - It's one of the best chugging train rhythms ever

And a pretty one, just because

One of my favorites. My kid self always found it amusing that "son of a bitch" managed to get airplay.

To Nazareth, but it's a double edged sword in a way.

Huge hit, it made 'em rich and famous, that's great

Also at least in the US pigeonholed them in the minds of a lot of folks.

I always thought that Heart's "Barracuda" was their other big hit - since Heart stole the riff

You decide

Hmm, Heart, a year after they opened for Nazareth on a European tour

I'm more of the full album rocker due to growing up when there were stations playing full albums at night.

I freaking loved that time, cruising around town with the crew and blasting full albums, man those nights those were epic.

With Nazareth the first 4 albums were their best imho...

Interesting music fact for that song.
On the guitar solo for the version for radio, the entire solo involves picking the string only twice.
It's a superb feedback solo with a sweet tone! Picks one string to get it going, then bends into each note of the solo. Then, repeats it.
Great string bending because the notes are all on pitch.

...a highly saturated sound had to learn to do that solo!
I'm one of them!
Takes a while to do the bends nice & slow and hit the note without overshooting.
It helps that he has that full throttle gain going. Well, it doesn't help. It's mandatory, without a EBow.
Thought of something later, Sarge: in order for this to work, you have to be playing LOUD!!
