ago. It was a looong drive and I was squeezed next to her in the back seat, with some of her band members at the time.

We chatted some and she sang bits of some songs she was going to sing that night.

My first impression (having not heard of her before) was Big whup, another young white girl trying to sound like she had a hard life and was singing the blues.

Boy did I turn out to be so so wrong.

Bonnie is great, and has a lifetime of hit recordings, and zillions of admirers to back that up.

NOW, I'm a big fan, with only a tale of a brief brush with her when she was just starting out.

Thanks for posting this, and for the memory it brought back.

... with a wink - "you know, your average white band!"

This is them ... if you listen closely you'll hear me in the audience at the Colloseum in Richfield, Ohio '78(?).

Wild Cherry and Earth Wind and Fire opened. Really found out what a great live band EW&F was.
