there's been a lot of great rock bands since 2000, but when we look back, these are the rock gods

of the early 21st Century.

I know there's lot of other songs I could put here, but everyone knows this one, and this performance is awesome, so ... enjoy.

another great vid of this song with great crowd participation

True, but I don't think you can call 'em a 90's band when they put out one record in that decade Hugh_Lebowski Mar 2021 #6

How about the Foo Fighters, mr_l? Diamond_Dog Mar 2021 #7
Fair enough ... their 2000's output has also been outstanding, and they're also Rock Gods for sure Hugh_Lebowski Mar 2021 #9

Y2K seems to have been where it all stopped if you ask me. Rick Beato even did a video on the subject.

There's still been a lot of great rock and roll put out since 2000, I've heard plenty of it. Granted a lot of it leans more towards metal, a genre largely oblivious to any changes in the popular landscape. Some other great (and legit 21st Century) hard rock/metal bands are Opeth, Porcupine Tree, Avenged Sevenfold, and Trivium, to name a few. 5 Finger Death Punch is pretty legit too, lame name notwithstanding.

Or older bands that keep on keeping on like Radiohead, PJ, U2, 3rd Eye Blind, etc.

Edit: Or as OhioGal mentioned ... Foo Fighters, of course

But there's been a bit of a dearth ... which is why I hold out Muse as the hard rock Gods of the first 1/5 of the 21st Century.

They're pretty much Rush or Led Zeppelin ... for people born after about 1988.

But I'm making a somewhat arbitrary distinction here ... first Foo Fighters album was 1995

Muse being the same 3 dudes since day 1 (22 years ago now) ... also lends some gravitas in my book.

They aint bad, but I wouldn't put them in God (or Goddess) class.

Actually I don't think that way really.

Anyway that was 2012.

I think this was a better song from 2012-

But to each his or her own, right?

Oh Yeah.

after another

I didn't say Madness was the greatest tune of 2012, but it was up there.

But if you made me choose, I'd probably go with Oblivion by Grimes.

Or Hold On by Alabama Shakes.

Or Birmingham by Shovels and Rope.

TBH 2012 was a bit of a down year for music imho.

This Weatherman tune ... also rocks though, I'll definitely give ya that ... I like it!

My fave album of 2012 was Same Trailer, Different Park by Kacey Musgraves
