What a loss. I can't imagine what he would have done to music over that past 30 years but I'm sure it would be amazing.

He & Clapton at Alpine Valley.
It's a good 3 hours from home plus getting out of parking lot. So, we got home 2:30am or past that.
Slept later than normal, and first thing we hear on TV news was that he died in the chopper crash.
I remember thinking "We just saw him playing 8 hours ago!"

to see him in a bar in my home town just after he caught national attention. The buzz was that he was a rare one. I staked my claim to a spot right in front of his rig two hours ahead of time. It was a life changing experience for a guitarist.
I told one of my buddies the next day, "I was too young to see Jimi while he was alive. I think he just came to see me."
