...I married.

I was drawn to her face, her looks I guess, but I feel in love with her being.

Oddly enough, she hates the fact that my puerile attraction to her was based on "the first time I saw [her] face." Across the room I certainly couldn't tell that she was a lovely person as well as a beautiful woman. In my life, I explain, I crossed the room to meet good looking women, but never went further, since in many cases looking lovely did not correspond to being wonderful and more importantly, lovable.

We've been together so long now, that she can criticize my more puerile self without making me do anything but laugh.

I always remember the song, it's beauty and Flack's voice. Just delicious in the middle of a psycho-thriller. Eastwood had great taste in finding mood music.

After hearing it a zillion times, it was a race to changing the channel or turning the radio off.

The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" is a 1957 folk song written by Scottish political singer/songwriter Ewan MacColl for Peggy Seeger, who later became his wife. At the time, the couple were lovers, although MacColl was still married to his second wife, Jean Newlove. Seeger sang the song when the duo performed in folk clubs around Britain. During the 1960s, it was recorded by various folk singers and became a major international hit for Roberta Flack in 1972, winning Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Song of the Year. Billboard ranked it as the number one Hot 100 single of the year for 1972.
