Related: About this forumgrimes - easily (studio - 2015) staggeringly great sounding song if you have a serious stereo system
I don't know who around here does, nobody ever mentions what they're rocking for a system.
But if you do, esp. one with a good sub and speakers that image and soundstage well, this song is a treat, folks.
The soundstage is huge, extends well outside the speakers to either side, sounds about 10 feet tall, with instruments placed all over the stage. It's not very 3D sounding, but 2D-wise, it's phenomenal.
And the artist who wrote and sings the song, did all the instruments/programming, drew the funky cover art ... also produced this record, in her home studio.
Grimes is a freaking badass chick.
For the record, my current setup is:
PC (spotify, flac, etc)
Anthem Statement D1 Preamp/SSP (TOSLINK from the PC)
Denon POA-5000 Power Amp
Polk LSi 15 Towers
Paradigm Defiance 15" 900W RMS Sub with Anthem Room Correction

(7,245 posts)I have some Adam audio T7v's, and a focusrite 4i4 ver 3 for my listening and recording. The Adam's are great. Yours has a bit more wattage lol though.

(33,643 posts)I do like those ribbon-like folded tweeters, I've had some Logan's with something very similar. They're nice-sounding.
Yeah, I might have a couple more watts to throw around, but I'm sure your system sounds good too.
A good sub is kinda key for a song like this one

(7,245 posts)Ive been a recording engineer for a while, used some pretty nice monitors, yamaha NS10's, mackies, Focals, but these Adams have a spatial definition that kills everything else for the price.
