a stone cold MAG guarantee, this is a song you've never heard, but I promise you will dig

Tommy Stinson's band he formed after The Replacements broke up. I saw this 1993 tour ... by myself, for $5 at Slims, SF.

Anyways, this song is so freaking good. Not just cause it's catchy, but the words are genius. It's about ... sending 'that letter' ... that you don't know whether you should really send ...

The whole album is awesome actually, but this is my fave. Literally if you made me pick 'whats your favorite album that nobody has ever heard', I'd pick this album, and I've thought so since 1993.

Moonlight hosts refrains unknown
And my porch swinging out of time
And the light above my head is sure to burn out, started dyin'
These are complicated times
For the understanding blind
And every word I thought might change your mind
Was chokin' me

On the fence you were born unsure
Which way your gate swings
And you knew right then like you know today
You didn't have the guts to say it
With one hand on your eyes
And the other on my thigh
And every word I thought might change your mind
Was chokin' me

Blessed and frayed, I shouldn't waste time
Lick it shut before I lose my guts
Or I might rip it to
Tiny pieces

Off of my tongue and through my pen
The ink flowed steadily in red
Did you think too much?
Lose too much?
Did you go a little far?
I couldn't help myself to you
More different than we knew
And every word I thought I should have said
Was chokin' me

Blessed and frayed, I shouldn't waste time
Lick it shut before I lose my guts
Or I might rip it to
Tiny pieces

Walked on nails before
I'm walkin' again, you know my skin
You turn your back and run
When it gets too sharp this fool's known to stand

Moonlight hosts refrains unknown
And my porch swinging out of time
And the light above my head is sure to burn out, started dyin'
These are complicated times
More difficult when they're mine
And every word I thought I should have said
Was chokin' me

Blessed and frayed I shouldn't waste time
Lick it shut before I lose my guts
Or I might rip it to
Tiny pieces

Tell me that's not a freaking great song?
