Glamrock's Late Nite Music Fest.... Wilco 4!

A Shot In The Arm

Some great lyrics in this one...

"The ashtray says,
You been up all night" & my favorite...
"We fell in love,
In the key of C.
We walked along,
Down by the Sea.
You followed me down,
The neck to D...."

Also saw 'em on Being There ...

This is a much later rendition of a great one from Being There from their 'Ashes of American Flags' live vid ...

Given you posted Misunderstood I'm presuming you've heard the whole Being There, yeah?

This song also kicks serious ass ... SOOOO friggin' Stonesy right here ...

As far as Wilco goes, I own A.M. of course. And Summerteeth. Sky Blue Sky and The Whole Love. Pretty sure I heard Being There at harvest when I worked at the medicinal farm. And Hotel Yankee Foxtrot, which was too experimental for my taste.

But hey man, I appreciate attending Mr. Lebowski's school of cool! You've turned me on to some great shit! Mucho appreciado baby!

that have some taste

So ... you have heard, and like, Sky Blue Sky & Whole Love ... but have NOT heard Wilco (The Album), that came right between the two?

Okay ... you have absolutely missed out on a critical piece. I'm not kidding when I say it's a complete toss-up to me which of the three is the best album of them. They are 'of a piece' IMHO (though they've never said so AFAIK, to ME, it's obvious). All of them are 4.5 out of 5 albums, easily.

You absolutely must hear Wilco (The Album) ... Every song on it ... could've been on either of the other two ... though I think this one leans a bit more towards SBS ... but it sits neatly in the middle. It's also the most blatantly 'Big Star' sounding of any of their records ...

A little sample ... Prepare to be happy

Just ordered it. They're so damn prolific. Every time I turn around they've got two "new" albums out! They're as bad as the Avett Bros.

Yeah, if you love the other two you're going to love that one too. Absolutely zero chance you won't ...

It's kinda like if someone said to me 'Ya know, I love 'Dark Side of the Moon' and man, 'Animals' is also pretty great, but what's that 'Wish You Were Here' album all about? You think I'd like it?

Uhmmm ... yeeeeeah. You might also wanna check that one out, lol ...

Even the songs you're not entirely sure about (much like with Whole Love) the first 1 or 2 listens, by the third time you're going ... man, that's good! The first one Wilco (The Song) (or as I call it, Wilco's of London) is a great example ... A sonic shoulder for you to cry on ... Wilco Will Love You Baby! At first I wasn't sure but by the 3rd spin I was totally rockin' it ...

I live outside Chicago, which is definately a Crowes base. They did they're Halloween show here like three years in a row. (They always opened for themselves. Once as BC/DC, once as a Beach Boys tribute, and I can't remember the other)

It's also a Wilco base. Obviously.

Can't tell you how many times I've heard, "yeah Wilco's good but I'm a Crowe's fan." And, "I dig the Crowes, but I'm into Wilco."

So in that spirit, I present.... Wilcrow!

I love it!

Though I admit I was pretty disappointed when it ended 20 seconds into the following song ... which was Uncle Tupelo's 'We've Been Had' from Anodyne ... I got really pumped when I heard that kick in ... then ... waaahhh-waaaaahhh ...

Oh well, love the CQ version. Perfect for Chris ...

You gotta listen to the whole Anodyne disc from UT at least once, mate. It's like ... a part of my life, and one of my all-time favorite albums ... and it's only like 38 mins or so ... 38 mins of AWESOME. Songwriting, hooks, musical style diversity, lyrics ... it's one of the best ever. I'm sure there's a 'full album' version on YT ... put on the 'phones, and just check it out sometime.
