and the body appears to move forward, hence the term 'backslide' for the Moonwalk. Maybe it has to do with the gravitational pull on the moon and the need to keep the feet on the ground. That's all I can think of, not a physicist. I googled it and found nothing about the reason for the name. Interesting.

because it looks like one is walking forward but a strong wind is moving them backward. Actual moonwalking astronauts bounce with each step, but move the way they're appearing to move, which is forward.

Probably, moonwalk just sounded better for a name.
