But the music survives!
First time (of many) I saw the Commander was in '72 at the Agora in Columbus, Ohio. I went with my girlfriend, best friend and his girlfriend... who was underage. The doorman let the three "adults" of us in but left "Trixie" out in the cold. We watched the opening act and, at intermission, went on a search for the poor lost soul.
We spotted the Commander's bus in a back lot:
... and noticed a broken window. At that moment, the door swung open and "Trixie" emerged, followed by a cloud of smoke and the band. "Hey! Did you break our window?" yelled someone, then the whole crew burst out laughing. They let "Trixie" in through the artist's entrance and we didn't see her for the rest of the show.
She had the best time of her life, while we regretted our disinterest in her wellbeing.
