(16,834 posts)when you hear the same song from a different artist. Fats Domino reminds me of music I used to hear pouring out of the bars on Bourbon St. when I was a kid and we would walk through the French Quarter. I grew up in the 70s and 80s, but the strip joints and many of the other bars still played a lot of that old music. Who knows, I might have heard Fats playing in one of those places and just didn't know it.

(8,038 posts)I remember during Katrina it was initially reported that he was missing, and may have died. I was so relieved when later on (maybe a day or so) it was clear he'd survived.

(16,834 posts)with minimal effort. Used to, we had to either have records with songs we wanted to hear or we could call the radio station to see if they would play our requests. It's so nice to be able to look up just about anything at all.
