It's a sad day in the bluegrass world.

Phil Leadbetter, two time IBMA Dobro Player of the Year, and Grammy nominee, died this afternoon. He was a five-time cancer survivor and had kidney failure, but it was fucking Covid that he couldn’t beat. Oh, and he was triple vaxxed and still caught it.

It’s a sad day at our house, too. Hubster and Phil had been dobro buddies for 25 years and cancer survivor buddies for about fifteen years. If you were a dobro player or had cancer, you were in Phil’s family, and he would drop anything to help you. No matter how bad he felt, he never slowed down. Till now..

Fuck cancer.
Fuck Covid.
Rest easy, Phil
