She was the inspiration for Crosby, Stills and Nash's song Suite: Judy Blue Eyes that was performed at Woodstock. When she first heard Stephen Stills' song she said "That's very nice Stephen but I'm not getting back together with you."
Judy of course covered Joni Mitchell's Both Sides Now to great success.
Joni skipped Woodstock because her agent told her to appear on the Dick Cavett Show because it was more important.
PS I know we have at least one person on this board who attended Woodstock. Would love to see a post or posts telling us all about it.

How funny, I didn't know about her and Stills & the song. For Dick Cavett Joni missed Woodstock, what a blunder and shame.

~ One poster who commented to a Woodstock OP I did a couple of years ago claimed that the event was quite disorganized, people got sick from the food, there was a lack of toilets and it was a basically muddy mess for many who attended. What a bummer to read, even if true. But I'm sure many thousands have positive memories of their experiences at the landmark festival.
