Steve Winwood, Eric Clapton, Derek Trucks, Doyle Bramhall - Can't Find My Way Home, live, 2007

Last edited Sat Dec 18, 2021, 10:18 PM - Edit history (1)

Love this old song from Blind Faith.

I posted Rachael Price's wonderful cover a few days ago, and appalachiablue followed that up with a post with the remastered, acoustic original. Both fantastic.

But this 2007 performance may be my favorite.

Sheer bliss...

1. All great, even if Clapton is a solid asshole.

One can still appreciate the performance. And, Steve Winwood is one of my all-time favorites.
Doyle Bramhall II certainly learned and picked up the mantle from the great late Stevie Ray Vaughan.

continue appreciating artists or athletes they'd once admired because they're discovered to be, OMG, liberal.

It's possible that knowing Clapton is an asshole may affect my opinion of his music in the future. But I'm determined not to let it change my opinion of records and performances I loved.

6. I wouldn't pay to go see Clapton again, though I certainly did in the past.

I can enjoy his musicianship and talent while disliking the man, but I won't financially support him in any way whatsoever.

So, even though I love the collaboration with him and Tracy Chapman, I won't buy it. I loved listening to it again though.

be confusing to some here, I'd better explain that it's a reference to a list of OPs with videos that I posted as a reply in the Lounge, the 2nd reply in this thread I'd started:

Not sure if you meant the reply above to be a reply in that thread.

Why Winwood is so often left off the extended lists of all-time best guitarists flummoxes me. He certainly didn't need Clapton (or Doyle Bramhall II or Derek Trucks) here:
