1. Got to see Papa John with them in SF in '72

They headlined a benefit for the California Marijuana Initiative to decriminalize pot at the now-defunct Winterland. As I recall, they didn't come on till well after midnight. It was a wonderful show. Dan Hicks and Stoneground preceded them. Here Hot Tuna's whole set with Papa John ...

5. I'm very glad this soundboard survives

It's funny that at the time of the show I'd never tried pot. That didn't happen 'till later. But despite that I don't have a great memory of the show. Hell, it was 50 years ago now...

3. Whadda time, too

Papa John was a great addition to the group, but one of my all-time favorite albums is their first one, the acoustic set recorded at some bar in the Bay Area without Papa John.

6. Jorma's still truckin'.

Not sure if he's still doing it, but at the beginning of the pandemic, for several weeks on Saturdays, he was live streaming from the Fur Peace Ranch. Jack showed up to jam with him a few times.
