I haven't watched anything close to all of this, but did check immediately to make sure the documentary included Tony Visconti, T.Rex's producer, who IMO deserves a lot of the credit for Bolan's success. I'd recommend Tony's book --

about Marc Bolan's flaws as well as his talent and charisma. But as always with something like this, it helps to have more information to put what's in the documentary in perspective.
