Back in the day the usual story about the song was that it was about Jane Asher, who was 17 when she and Paul started dating.

But I've since learned it was about Celia Mortimer, a previous girlfriend of Paul's.

Btw, over the years I've heard and read comments about a 17-year-old girl being underage. Nope. The legal age of consent in England was 16.
