Made Queen's mark on the rock scene iconic.

Still love hearing Queen at my local gym, in TV commercials, at sporting events.

of Music. I was almost utterly unaware of Queen and Freddie Mercury until 10 years ago. There. I said it. It's certain as a sunrise that I've missed so many other great artists. Too much. Such a short time.

I was glassy eyed flippin' through vinyl with the in your face scent of Gonesh #8 wafting through the air at a record/head shop we had to drive 30 miles to and immediately went to the counter and asked "Who is that!!?" There were no "videos"

(Yeah I hated my grandpas had to walk 12 miles through the ice age to school shit too )

But for me he's always been more of a theatrical singer than a rock singer.

I'm not criticizing him, just saying I hear him differently. I love his singing anyway. And I think of him when I think of great singers. But when I think of great rock singers, I'll think of Rodgers, Plant, Bowie, Bono, Cornell, and others including, more recently, Campino of Die Toten Hosen. I don't care that they couldn't sing opera. I listen to them because I want to hear rock.

Again, I admire Freddie. It was tragic that we lost him so early.
