I think it was late 80s.
My wife's college roommate has lived in Key West for over 40 years. (State case worker who started right after she returned from Palau for the Peace Corps.)
We visited her every few years, and she was pals with Jimmy.
We went to his bar there and she went to talk with him.
After 3 or 4 songs he said "I'm told we have a Chicago musician here this afternoon.". He called me up. I played two songs on piano.
As I'm leaving the stage he says " Where are you going? You play guitar too, right?". And he hands me his acoustic.
So, I played a 3rd song.
I honestly don't remember which songs we played. I do remember that we went there twice more that week, and my money was no good there!

I admire him so much. He's a fine writer, too -- I've read a few of his books.
