Stones songs.

You're the second DUer posting in MA who's mentioned a "comfort zone" to me recently, referring to my sometimes posting music outside their comfort zone.

I'll admit I don't think in terms of comfort zones. I'm not sure if I even have one, or if it's just a fairly large comfort zone where I rarely if ever hit any borders. I have a lot of very diverse interests, always have had, and I've always felt fine with all of them, even if the combination can seem odd to other people. I have discovered that throwing parties with friends I know through various interests can sometimes result in my hearing later that some of those friends were outside other friends' comfort zones. (Well, it's usually more a "Why are you friends with ______?" response, when it seems perfectly obvious to me.)

I hope I'm not bothering too many people here posting music by Die Toten Hosen recently, since DFW mentioned them to me last month (as a band almost unknown outside Germany, which IMO is a damn shame). But they're a great band, and I love their music even though the lyrics are almost always in German and I've forgotten most of the German I studied in high school and college. I can always find translations of the lyrics online, and I post them with the videos.

So much music to discover and enjoy...along with remembering all the old favorites.

(EDITING to add that since another DUer did mention having trouble enjoying music in a different language, I was outside their comfort zone, too. Oh, well...)

Stones' covers are perfectly acceptable to me

I love this particular Blaster's cover of Johnny Paycheck. LOVE IT.

I hate Johnny Paycheck in all other circumstances. but I this tune gets a pass

after I'd already been wondering if what I was posting was outside people's comfort zones. I couldn't remember if I'd ever seen you post anything by the Stones or someone covering their songs (I have known people who don't want anyone but the Stones doing those songs). But I was fairly sure you'd never posted anything by Steepwater, since I'd searched for that name in titles and found only Glamrock posting about them.

I'm not a Johnny Paycheck fan, either. I do like some of the Blasters' music, like this:

the thread titles on the search results, and I see you replied to a couple of them.

Including saying you'd post them on FB to annoy your friends there.
