good live performance of it to post, but unfortunately Ian Brown is infamous for not being able to sing very well live. And as brilliant a guitarist as John Squire is, he couldn't duplicate the studio version (impossible with just one guitar).

This is the very best live performance I've found of the song so far, from Coachella in 2013, but it just doesn't reach the perfection of the studio version:

Some bands -- Golden Earring in particular --could equal or even excel the studio tracks in concert. But the Stone Roses weren't one of them. Their legions of fans forgave them anyway, and their first album will always be a classic.
