Tiny Tim - debut on Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In on January 22, 1968

I'm one of those who thinks Tiny Tim was a brilliant musician and entertainer.

1. I met Tim in a grocery store line in Atlanta..

way back in the 1970's.

3. I didn't meet him directly, but I was right behind him checking in at a NYC holiday Inn.

That was pretty much at his end, and he had really really gained a lot of weight. I always though he was great on Carson's show. He still looked the same, had a neat pink suit on, pretty much the same.

4. I'm glad to know that I'm not alone in thinking he was brilliant.

He was much more than a curiosity. For most of his life he was concerned with preserving old popular songs and performing them in the style of their original singers. He created an unforgettable stage persona that opened doors and helped him bring the music he cherished to the world.

8. Very true. I think his vast musical knowledge gets lost in his stage persona.

He wasn't putting on an act with the songs he sang. He loved them.

7. There's a new doc about Tiny Tim that Weird Al narrates.

Haven't seen it yet, but it should be good. It's done by Justin Martell, who wrote the bio of him that came out a few years ago.
