Music Appreciation
Related: About this forumSome numb nuts on twitter asked "which band do you like because of your father?"
When my dad and I hung out, which wasn't as often as I wish, it was usually MJQ on the turntable
He was probably pumping liquor, a rye and soda every 20-30 minutes, & I was stealing beer and sneaking one-hitters on the back porch
Anyway. Modern Jazz Quartet is the answer
This is beautiful at every level

(76,695 posts)My dad loved cool jazz & big band.
So with him, I would have listened to Miller, Goodman, Ellington, Farlow, Getz, Brubaker, etc.
On my side, he did like The Beatles & Emerson, Lake & Palmer. And, I dug bebop, and he'd listen. (More to me playing it, than records) So, we could listen to both sets of tastes.
