Some numb nuts on twitter asked "which band do you like because of your father?"

When my dad and I hung out, which wasn't as often as I wish, it was usually MJQ on the turntable

He was probably pumping liquor, a rye and soda every 20-30 minutes, & I was stealing beer and sneaking one-hitters on the back porch

Anyway. Modern Jazz Quartet is the answer

in the big band era. He loved Glenn Miller and the Dorsey brothers so they kind of stuck with me.

My dad loved cool jazz & big band.
So with him, I would have listened to Miller, Goodman, Ellington, Farlow, Getz, Brubaker, etc.
On my side, he did like The Beatles & Emerson, Lake & Palmer. And, I dug bebop, and he'd listen. (More to me playing it, than records) So, we could listen to both sets of tastes.
