(11,277 posts)"Blue" was female album of the century in 2000 if I remember correctly. Joni Mitchell is a national treasure. I love her.

(11,277 posts)My late wife would sing Joni's songs when this album was playing. I was 19 when we met in '71 and that trait made me positive I wanted to spend my life with her. When this song came on she got a playful glint in her eye and would get a little louder when "bought her a dishwasher and a coffee percolator..." and always laugh. Because the very first month anniversary of us living together I bought her a vacuum cleaner. Well goddammit, she didn't have one and mentioned how nice it would be to have. "All romantics meet the same fate..." I just did it early on. To get it out of the way.
This is the first Christmas she's not with us. I needed to play this today. Now I can enjoy the family without the heavy heart that I was worried about. Thank you for this post. Unbelievably timely to me. I love you all.
