Wow. Message about Jeff Beck from his bass player, Tal Wilkenfeld

She says Wikipedia once suggested she was his daughter. Don't see anything about that now, but this is the page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tal_Wilkenfeld

Jeff, thank you for believing in me before anyone else did. You stood behind me & told everyone to take me seriously. You treated me like a daughter to the point where Wikipedia actually thought that was true. Actually, I did too. ♥️💔♥️💔

Somehow I learned about Tal very early, back when she ventured away from Australia looking for better opportunities. Stumbled across her on YouTube by accident. When I first saw that she had been hired by Jeff Beck and they were playing together, I knew it was a match made in musical heaven, if there is such a thing. Tal’s playing synced beautifully with his.

Later I saw she was touring with Chick Corea. Am sure we’ll be hearing lots more from her… sure hope so!

She was a virtuoso as well. Nobody could touch Beck for sheer talent. He never, ever missed a note. Ever.

Jeff’s light & power were so strong I was convinced we’d be goofing around & making music ‘til the day I leave this planet. He was forever youthful, fueled so deeply by the muse that basic necessities were last on his list.“Ru hungry, Jeff?” “Oh no, I had a muffin yesterday!”

We lost our favorite guitarist, and we also lost one of the most intelligent, intuitive, hilarious people I’ve ever met. I miss you so much Jeff.

The other night I was re-watching some Playing for Change videos. One of them was Santana's Oye Como Va, where I saw her, but each time I've watched it I've missed her name. So, I'm just thinking she must be a musician local to wherever they're shooting.

Then last night Beck dies, I start watching vids of his live performance, and there she is again. I'm really starting to wonder who she is.

Tonight I see her tweet as posted here, and read her Wiki. Damned if this girl hasn't already lived a whole damned magical, musical career in just 36 short years!
