3. FWIW I read many years back that the original lyrics were drug oriented

and the Beatles were threatened with Sgt. Pepper not being released if they didn't change the lyrics:

and though the holes were rather small
They had to count them all
Now they know how many holes it takes to fill up Albert Hall.
