One of the main reason I spend so much time in DUMA is that I learn so much here

Up until last year I knew exactly 2 songs from Golden Earring. (Just like almost every other American I imagine)

Because of highplainsdem, I'm learning about their catalog. So thank you HPD

There have been several other bands I've learned about here over the years too.

There are some really knowledgable folks in these pages, willing to share. Which is great for me since I am always loooking for good music.

the kind words and for all your posts here, which I've enjoyed and learned from. They're greatly appreciated.

I hope this group is making the day brighter for DUers, as often as possible.

I just got back online after a long day worrying about an older relative's health and relaying updates to family members, and I was looking forward to finding good music to listen to here, maybe something new which is always a treat...and this very nice message was a lovely surprise. Makes my day.

And thank you for posting that Golden Earring song.

You know I love live performance videos, too, and I think I'll add video from the November 2019 concert that unfortunately was their last - due to Covid and then guitarist George Kooymans being diagnosed with ALS - to the end of this message.

I'll be posting a message about a long documentary (no, not about Golden Earring) either later tonight or tomorrow morning (I still haven't finished watching it), and I hope it will make the weekend a bit more enjoyable for anyone here who hasn't already seen it and might want to.

Here's that video of Golden Earring, all in their early 70s by then, with a great live performance of "Liquid Soul" (and this is completely live, since it was recorded by a fan that night and uploaded to YouTube within hours):
