(76,122 posts)It's blues changes so any decent player can fit right in.
But, we did a completely different rhythm to it. Less pure blues, a bit more rock.
It had a feel closer to this, but the pattern in the bass line was hit by everyone not just the bass.

(3,345 posts)In high school I went to a Parks and Rec Auditorium where the Doors played as did other notables. There was nothing special about the place, I don't know who had the juice to get these a acts, but I thank them for the Memories and the girls I met

(76,122 posts)My dad was a big wheel with a large local branch of the Knights Of Columbus.
A promoter out of Chicago wanted to use the ice rink in the summer to hold concerts every Tuesday. Usually 3 bands on the bill.
The city wouldn't let the guy use it unless he was aligned with a local nonprofit. This guy was also KofC so he contacted my dad and for 5% of the gate, he had a partner.
The condition was that we got 4 backstage passes every week.
So, from '72 to '76 we got to meet several acts that were or became big.
Rare Earth, Three Dog Night, Blue Oyster Cult, Rufus, Head East, Black Oak Arkansas, REO, Ides Of March...
Nobody (except maybe REO) became as big as The Doors, but still...
