Background information
Birth name: Donald Thomas Scholz
Born: March 10, 1947 (age 76); Toledo, Ohio, U.S
Origin: Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.

Donald Thomas Scholz (born March 10, 1947) is an American musician. He is the founder, main songwriter, primary guitarist, keyboardist, and only remaining original member of the rock band Boston. He has appeared on every Boston release. Scholz is a multi-instrumentalist, he plays guitar, bass, keyboards, and drums.

Scholz is an MIT-trained engineer who designed and built his own recording studio in an apartment basement in the early '70s. A rock fan throughout his teen years, Scholz began writing songs while earning his master's degree at MIT. The first Boston album was mostly recorded in his basement studio, mostly using devices he designed and invented. After the success of Boston, he founded Scholz Research & Development, Inc. to develop and market his inventions, many under the Rockman brand. Scholz holds several patents related to his work at SR&D over the years.

He was described by AllMusic as an "un-rock n' roll" figure who did not enjoy the limelight of being a performer, preferring to concentrate on music, production, and inventing new electronic equipment. In more recent years, he has dedicated much of his money and time to charitable work.

Of course, I had a Rockman. Used it for years.
But, I also had a Powersoak. It was a clever resistor network that allowed the volume of an amp to be adjusted AFTER the power tubes & output transformer. So, you got the "loud" character of the amp at any volume. And, the impedence against the amplifier was always 8 ohms.
It was super useful for using a talkbox, because I could put that before the Powersoak. So, the talk box was plenty loud, but the amp itself could be at the right level. Without it, the talkbox wasn't loud enough or the amp was too loud.
Clever piece of tech by Tom.
