Forget the 1st couple of songs...inconsequential....but everything else is awesome....if you want to hear the brilliance of early music that the Dead were making back then.

Rain, and on that trajectory they might have turned out to be quite a different band. Thank goodness they went in another direction. Even Zappa wanted hit records, which he finally got with Valley Girl and Dancing Fool. He wrote some beautiful doo-wop melodies, albeit with absurd and sometimes vulgar lyrics. I might post a couple later.

Thanks much for posting the song and for the tip. I took a gander at the rarities songlist on YouTube and will listen to some later. There are many familiar titles, and there are some obscurities with intriguing titles: Mindbender, Alice D Millionaire, Tastebud. There's a studio accoustic version of Weather Report Suite that I'm really looking forward to hearing.

I've been getting into the Pigpen material lately and love this version of Easy Wind. It was included on a CD called New Year's Eves at Winterland which came as a bonus with The Closing of Winterland DVD set i ordered from the GD website back in the early 2000s. I was glad to find it on YouTube last week.

Later.
