(76,625 posts)Played this back in '80-'81.
Would like to have played it on a Telecaster, but didn't have one at the time. Strat had to suffice.

(76,625 posts)That band probably only played 25 or 30 times a year. And, we played smaller room.
The 2 bands after that played way more (80 to 110 times a year) & much bigger rooms.
That said, I may have played to over a half-million listeners in my time. Obviously, that's just a guess.
Now, had that been 10 stadium shows to get to that number, it would have been super cool! But, no.

(3,401 posts)I I have to say smaller venues are the best. So much sound is lost in big stadiums

(76,625 posts)Two of the best shows i ever saw was The Fixx at The Vic, and King Crimson (on The Beat tour, i think) at the Park West. Both in Chicago.
The Vic maybe holds 800 people, the PW maybe a thousand.
But, when i say little, i mean LITTLE. As in maybe 40-60 chairs.
My last 2 bands couldn't fit our gear in a place that small.
The smallest place we played in those bands was the joint right near where we all lived. Seats around 125, with a fire code capacity of 180 something. We played almost all holidays there for nearly 20 years. Darned convenient.
