3. I remember

when that song hit the airwaves in my area. I loved that song, started singing it every time I heard it come around, and my mom hated it... didn't stop me.

But I'm glad you love it

My mom told me the song had traveled from South Africa and was reigning all over especially West Africa in the late '50s. She was stunned when it hit the airwaves here in the late '60s.

5. Oh, it didn't matter

I sang everything I heard and drove her up the wall. I mean jingles for ads, popular songs I knew she didn't like. She hated the "new stuff" (folk and rock) so there was no pleasing her. And I grew up to have quite the musical background along with several other mini careers. I still perform on occasion.

6. Ha! You were a strong young one.

How I envy musical people and your ability to get up there and do it.

7. I was scared to death for the

first thirty years. My heart would pound so hard when I auditioned that I felt everyone could see my temples throbbing! But somehow I managed to enjoy the performance after a bunch of rehearsing. I even went through a spell where I had terrible stage fright and stopped performing altogether, not sure what the was all about.

But now I don't mind any of those things that used to terrify me, go figure.

And with my other art, I have it all over the place in my home because I'm not a marketing person, I have no idea of how to market my artwork. When someone kindly tries to set me up with ways to go about it my eyes glaze over and roll to the back of my head, algebra will produce a similar effect.

8. Oh, my! We're on the opposite ends of the spectrum!

Long story but visual arts is my thing. Was steered away from it and into the sciences by my dad. I wasn't strong enough so, yeah, I know scared to death in another way but kept at it and would sneak in art classes around the science courses so he wouldn't find out about it. Finally, after years of lab/research work with shows in-between, I'm like to hell with this. So I keep remembering works that sold to keep pressing on with it.

But for real though, I don't think that I could have learned discipline any other way but the sciences and I'm grateful for that.

Anyhoo, music has always been a grounding source. Funny, all my pieces are tucked away like fragile little babies but before I die I will have another show. Who knows? Maybe one day, we'll be sharing photos of our openings. Keeping my fingers crossed that somehow, some way your eyes won't glaze over
