I do a solo acoustic version of this. I use 12 string for it.
The verses use interesting chords. ASus4 to GMaj7. The chorus chords are pretty standard. It's the juxtaposition of dissonant cording to standard that creates the tension/release.
Words are great on this song! Very fun to sing.
