Any Guitarists/songwriters who have studied Syd Barrett's

Method as a guitarist and lyricist. I know he often employed Burroughs cut method for his lyrics and descending scales were frequently employed musically.

Anyone have anything to add?

I do think he used his volume and tone pots to alter tone just my opinion at 53😉 been exploring fretboard since I was 11

I'm gonna listen to him and try to spot tone manipulation as well.

The remastered live stuff that came out a few years ago make me feel like the Piper at the Gates of Dawn was not produced in a way that captured the band's true sound.

Thanks for the input. Syd was one of my favorite guitarist. Not his virtuasity (which was so so) but his creativity. A true artist.

And for live shows he relied heavily on the Selmer Buzztone fuzz and a Binson Echorec.
There's a new pedal out that does a pretty good job of "echoing" the Binson.

Barrett was ahead of the pack in developing unique soundscapes to match the flavor of his lyrics. He didn't construct conventional solos per se, favoring fills and eerie sound washes that focused more on atmosphere than melody. He was also ingenious in creating sounds from devices that no one had ever thought to use before, such as a zippo lighter for unorthodox slide styling, played much higher on the neck than, say, Elmore James ever attempted.
