Were you jamming solo or were there a young trooper or two supporting your act? marble falls Sep 2025 #1

I'd like to try the gauge but I require RPS strings on anything lighter than 09. IrishAfricanAmerican Sep 2025 #2

... those strings are not budget breakers. I'm from the Ernie Ball generation. If you didn't at least break an e string, you really weren't playing. Never could play worth a lick, but I could tune pretty well and carry a guitar into a venue. And the board, amps, boxes, cables, mics and stands, the drum cases (though most drummers I knew hauled and set up their own stuff. I learned quick: leave the cymbal case alone).

I currently am using 08-38 with RPS, (reinforced plain strings.) I find if I don't use RPS, they come unwrapped from the ball end before long. I played 11s for decades and my left hand is very strong. I haven't had an RPS ever come loose. The 08s make a big difference in how long I'm able to play.
