I got a shutter speed of 1/500 second so the wings are less blurred.

I just got a couple more photos today. TBH, I am so lucky to get these shots.
When the autofocus "grabs", it's wonderful. When it doesn't there's just this blur. (OK. when my timing is not near-instantaneous, either)

The fuzzy ones had something pretty unique to say, so I posted them first.
(I got nicer iridescent colors, too.)

I posted an anecdote elsewhere on DU about my service time. A couple of us were avid photographers, and our E-4 buddy was a deer hunter. Without nagging him, he got caught up in the enthusiasm and became a wildlife photographer. Deer are like Stonehenge monoliths compared to these lightning bolts.

A real challenge.
But when it "clicks" nice results to share.
