Castle for an Euro? Here is one.
A person we know bought a castle in Mutzchen, east of Leipzig, for one Euro.
And a plan to spend much more. She has made part of it into an American style restaurant
and is marketing to motorcycle touring groups and campers. MotoSoul. The year before Covid hit.
Timing is everything. It seems to be doing well. They will add some glamping, small concerts and turn the castle into a small hotel.
The place is at the end of a street called Zum Schloß. To the Castle.

was in the former GDR, East Germany, in areas where teh economy collapsed after the wall
came down. You could buy property but it would have to fix the place up. Just plunking down
the Euro wasn't just what happened. You needed to have a plan for development.
Our friend had a plan and worked with the remaining local residents to get work done on
the property if the skill set was there. Since she has come in at least 3 other small businesses
have opened to provide services to the castle and people who are there to visit.

Like most smaller towns in many countries people are leaving these areas for the bigger cities. So she
keep the town population stable.
