We noticed her the weekend of the 4th of July.
The nest is so camouflaged that if you don't see her land on it you likely won't find it.
Enjoy! We sure are.

(44,039 posts)I saw flying into it otherwise I never wouldve seen the nest. I got to observe while she sat on the eggs, after they hatched, when she fed them and I got to see them fledge it was so cool. That was one hard-working mama bird.I have at least three females at my feeders this year but I havent been able to find the nest. Hidden in the leaves no doubt. Good job on the photos

(6,819 posts)It's not difficult to photograph Hummers at feeders, but to get a shot of one in her nest must take a lot of patience. Thanks!

(252,149 posts)I keep hoping that hummingbirds will visit my hanging fuchsia plant, when I had one before it attracted hummingbirds...

(15,324 posts)Unfortunately I haven't seen any hummingbirds yet, although they may be a bit stealthy!

(252,149 posts)I haven't seen any this year since I've put mine out, but a lot of the blooms have dropped - so I looked it up and learned that they're very sensitive to watering. I already added feeding spikes, but now I need to do better with the watering. I hadn't had that problem before, so I'm still learning...

(22,333 posts)She is just adorable, and so is her little nest.
You are so fortunate to have a front row seat for this!
If it's not too much trouble, I hope you can keep us posted, let us know whenever the eggs hatch and how many little hummers there are.
Also, if you might have a moment to share these pics in the Birders group ( https://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=forum&id=1208 ), I know they would be greatly enjoyed over there.
These are super pics, and I thank you for sharing them. This little lady is making my night!

(10,122 posts)...i get to see nests a fair amount here.

if you look at the full res size of the last pic, you'll see a mite on her beak and a good amount of spider web in the tip of her beak...they use the spider web to strengthen the nest by weaving it in. it's cool to watch.

(126 posts)Gato, are you located in Costa Rica?
I saw your pics of the baby squirrel monkeys and they were terrific.
We were in Costa Rica in January and my pictures of the squirrel monkeys didn't come out nearly as well. The little buggers are constantly moving through the trees. We were on a boat too, so that added another level of difficulty.
Beautiful country. We can't wait to go back!

(10,122 posts)...shooting from a boat is tough...too much movement.
the squirrel monkeys come so close to my house that i don't even put on shoes to photograph them. i posted these a couple months back...not sure if you saw them:
