(102,793 posts)Is probably the only road that's ever gonna be there and it's a rough one. I wouldn't want to take my own 4Runner up there but I would drive a FS truck.

Since they belong to the taxpayers. It's not like I'd tear it up, which is stupid because that would be a self inflicted threat to my survival, well for the places I went in them. When you go out in a wilderness, doesn't matter how you get there, survival in a natural setting is the number one topic. If you had a good, functioning vehicle when you got there, kind of stupid to mess it up so you can't get back.
The part I would be relying on with it being a FS vehicle is that I would have a radio and at least one spotter unit so if anything did go wrong, somebody would be out looking for me asap. And I don't know if my insurance would cover problems out in a wilderness.
And we are talking actual, federally declared, real honest to mother nature wilderness... bears and all.
