Some random shots of the cruise ship NCL Encore at night, shot handheld with a Canon 6dmII and EF17-40mm lens. I threw in a shot of Downtown Seattle for good measure. I love ultrawide lenses.

(3,172 posts)When I found out I was going on this cruise I knew I had to get some night shots of the ship. I timed it just right and the weather cooperated with some cloudy skies. The lighting really stands out. It also helped that it was cold and the decks were empty.

(35,730 posts)Emptiness adds to the atmosphere that is evoked through these photos.
It is kind of like when I viewed Ellis Island. Eerie without people, though in this case its like we know these features on the boat are just waiting for the addition of people to become alive.
Ellis island was sensing the people who had come throughtheir hopes and fears. The ship entertainment features are like bubble gum waiting to be popped.
