(36,281 posts)Taken from directly in front of my house at the time, with the pets and the go bag in the car and ready to evacuate. Calfire jumped on it fast though, and put it out at the edge of town. The fall theme is a bit of a stretch, LOL. Here's another shot:

I worked in TV News for thirty five years. My friends were out in that every year. It can be very scary.

(8,891 posts)Entry was last year's migration @ 950mm and heavily cropped. My only encounter this year @ 600mm shows how high they are soaring, my guesstamate is ~2000 ft. I'm lucky my home is directly under the flyway as they veer from the Gulf coast to head down south and the east coast. This years catch:

(3,164 posts)I had to look hard to find a good autumn shot.
I'll have to drive up to the mountains next year to get some good pictures.

(2,451 posts)normally we dont get much in the way of fall color her in austin but this year is something special. something about a summer drought and then a decent amount of rain in late october/early november seems to have turned on the color machine. Ive been out the past few days shooting a ton but i have a feeling the leaves are just about done

(1,407 posts)By some weird twist of fate, it was the opposite for me...
I unintentionally woke up early and managed to snag the last entry.
(That's a fantastic shot, by the way. I love the contrasts of colour/texture in the photo. The pale blue and soft textures at the top, the light and rough textures at the bottom, all framing the vibrant detailed trees in the center.)
