(24,026 posts)...done at the same time, sent me 2 pair of pairs of earrings, one of which looked like houseflies. They were disgusting and I never wore them. I was surprised, because this aunt usually had very good taste. My mom insisted I write a than you note, which I found difficult to compose.
Fortunately, the other pair was cute little green frogs, so I probably said something appreciative about those and said nothing about the flies. I hate flies.

(3,409 posts)dragonflies that are really cute. Spiders make up my favorite brooches for some reason. I guess because I used to have a pet tarantula who was very tame and I came to really love spiders 🕷️

Your collection sounds wonderful too. Enjoy them all!

(24,026 posts)I have an interesting capiz shell story. I was stationed in Japan for 2 years. Capiz shell chandeliers were very popular amongst the people living on base - long, multi-tier creations. They were a good earth quake warning because the shells were so light they would start to quiver and shimmer with the least vibration, making a very soft chiming sound, soon to be followed by a jolt from Mother Earth.
The quakes I experienced while there were generally quite brief, and never caused any damage or injuries. I do remember one that lasted long enough that I found myself thinking, "Okay, you can stop anytime now, please." It was an odd sensation.

(3,248 posts)I have a capiz shell chandelier and mobile. I love their chiming when the windows are open or the heat/ac is blowing.

(149,678 posts)I thought my turtle pin would make a cool photo all by itself, and indeed it does.
Thank you!
