(32,045 posts)You sure do have the talent for noticing interesting shapes and colors, Peggy. Love the mushroom pics!
What is that object that looks like white fur?
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,681 posts)Kali downthread thinks it's lion's mane. I loved the mushrooms too!
I always seek out the different shapes and colors. Don't want all of you getting bored!

(16,485 posts)I googled and found oodles of pictures. I hadn't heard of these before, so that was pretty interesting!
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,681 posts)I actually didn't know either.
I haven't seen anyone using photos for publicity. The word of mouth works really well. I appreciate your compliment nonetheless!

(7,689 posts)Thanks for the memories -- I used to go to the Santa Monica ones ...
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,681 posts)I've never been to the Santa Monica markets. It's too far for me anyhow. I'm really spoiled by the local ones.

(36,281 posts)One of my recipe books mentions in almost every spinach recipe that you can cook the roots too -- wish we had that at a farmers market near here.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,681 posts)The variety IS amazing--and I didn't photograph everything I saw today.
The beets at the local farmers markets normally come with the greens still attached. Also the carrots. Even the supermarkets leave the greens on.
I tried cooking the beet greens once and they didn't go over well with my family, so now I just ask the vendor to chop them. And they always do.
Welcome to the Photo Group!

(12,396 posts)Where exactly is this market?
I am taking my very first trip to California next month and I am really excited about the adventure! I was in San Francisco years ago for three days once and the trip was aborted due to a death in the family so I dont really count that because we didnt do much. This time Im joining my daughter who is flying out to teach a seminar at a university in Ontario, California. Well spend a couple of extra days and mooch around La la land. If you have any tips, please share.

(1,145 posts)it is well worth the trip. And look for the hummingbirds around the Agapanthus under the oaks in front of the library.

(149,681 posts)These photos are from the Manhattan Beach Farmer's Market. It's in downtown Manhattan Beach, every Tuesday from 11 AM till 3 PM. I don't remember the address, but I'll look it up.
The really big farmer's market is in Torrance. It's too big for me and it's crowded!
Ontario is some distance from Manhattan Beach, but it's certainly doable.
The weather should be nice; the rainy season (if you can call it that!) will be mostly over. You should have a great time.
And of course, the more time you have, the better. There's a lot to see in Los Angeles.

(14,893 posts)you'd stop bragging about your Farmer's Market!
But seriously, I love your veggie and flower photos. We have an indoor farmers market once a month . But of course most veggies are from last season (currently temp is 2 with a feel like temp of -10, not good growing weather). But I did get me some nice garlic!
Keep the photos coming.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,681 posts)I hear ya, darlin'!
Sometimes I feel as though I'm overdoing it . . . but with the responses I get, how can I stop?
And you know I love practicing with my Olympus camera.
Hey, enjoy your garlic!

(28,125 posts)Thank you for these great photos and for the education - I never knew what Lion's Mane Pom Pom Mushrooms were until now.

(149,681 posts)Hey, I didn't know what that mushroom was either! I just knew I wanted to photograph it too.
