Priced at 231,000 yen which, if my currency calculator is correct, is $1,818.22 USD.

Thanks for the images and the info, Andy!

(102,802 posts)Truly I jest. It looks nice.
I have put the new camera on hold because I purchased a professional sound recording system first, I have to pace myself with the purchase of toys. I'm still planning on the camera, I just had to put it off for spell. This is incentive, since clear macros are my passion I've discovered.
Thanks!

(10,176 posts)...this one does 2x magnification. this is definitely a lens i'd love to get as i want to get back into real macro work with my M43 gear. hopefully we'll start seeing more 2x and greater magnification macro lenses hitting the market soon.

(14,559 posts)RF 100mm 2.8. Both are IS and both go a beyond 1x magnification. Canon lists at $1300 but doesn't reach 2x (1.4x), isn't IP 53 weather sealed and has 2 stops less IS.
I think we'll see more increased pricing from OM Systems as they become profitable without the 'parenthood' of the medical and scientific divisions. That plus they seem to be selling features and performance instead of price point. The 300mm f4 sells for ~$3000 and the Nikon equivalent (600mm f4) goes for ~$10,000 and it's not weather proof or IS.
The OM 1 is about $500 more than the other OM bodies but $1000 less than the Nikon Z7, has more capability, better weather sealing and IQ is totally equivalent.
Doesn't mean I like it but it's a realistic approach to marketing.
Laowa makes a 100mm 2.8 that goes to 2x for only $500. You give up all automation, IS and weather proofing but it is reportedly quite good for IQ.
