Related: About this forumSubmissions thread for the April Photo Contest!
It's that time again!
mnhtnbb, our illustrious winner of the February contest, has chosen the topic for the April contest to be Macro.
For further detail here is her description for what that entails.
"I'm inclined to use the basic definition that macro photography refers to any photograph that depicts a close-up and extremely detailed image of a small subject, usually larger than life. Due to the availability of digital cameras and technology of phone cameras, close-ups can result in a larger than life photo of a subject. So we could say that the Macro theme means a close up larger than life regardless of whether the shot was taken with a special macro lens. But because we do have some very sophisticated photographers in the group, I do think--in the interest of "leveling the playing field"-- that post processing should be limited and not run through special macro post processing software (no stacking)...
...Googling macro photography will bring up lots of photos as examples. Objects that make great subjects for macro photos include flowers, water droplets, bubbles, stones, leaves, feathers, shiny objects, toys, jewelry, fruits and vegetables, cutlery, insects...there are all kinds of things all around us that would be great subjects. The purpose of macro photography is to focus on the small detail and make it larger than life. Have fun with it!"
So, essentially, what we are looking for are photographs of small items larger than life size.
Please keep your entry no larger than 1024 pixels in its longest dimension and under 675K in file size. If you need help posting a photograph or with image sizing, just ask.
Post your photos in this thread only! No comments here please! For comments, refer to the comments thread:

The contest is open for submissions now and will close April 16 at midnight or when the maximum of 30 entries is met. Preliminaries will be posted as soon as possible and open for votes for 72 hours. Finals immediately after and winners the same.
I will cross post links to this this to the Lounge and to GD. Good luck!
MONTHLY CONTEST:
Only one entry of your own original work per person, unless/until the Volunteer Host opens Submissions for second entries. You need to post your entry in the submission thread started by the Host of a contest. Please be sure to include a "Title" for your photograph in the Subject line of your post. The submission thread is for photo entries only, no comments, no questions. The Host will start a separate thread just for comments and questions.
Once a photo is entered in a contest it is ineligible for any future contest unless the Host specifies otherwise.
The Volunteer Host is the final authority in their contests. The Volunteer Host may enter a contest as long as the Volunteer Host is not the previous winner and has not selected the theme for the contest which they are hosting.
Submissions will be limited to 30 entries maximum unless the Photography Group votes to change the limits.
The Winner of the contest agrees to pick the next month's theme. The Winner of the monthly contest may not enter the contest for which they selected a theme.
The Submission & Comment threads will be posted in the Photography Group. The Preliminary polls and Final Contest poll will be posted in GD per Admin's permission.
The Host of the Contest may copy and paste these rules into their submission thread or post a link to these rules into the submission thread. The Host WILL copy and paste the CONTEST LICENSE into the submission thread in its entirety. (At bottom of post)
CONTEST LICENSE:
An entrant to this contest, by submitting a photograph, is giving permission for that photograph to be copied to Demopedia or to a linked Gallery and included in a DU Calendar that will display the photographs entered for this contest for the purpose of publicizing future contests and/or commemorating current and past contests.
