1. I was about to turn in and read a book instead of reading DU

and want to laud you for posting this appeal. You may want to cross post it in the Lounge - I have seen wondrous results from doing that. Twice folks came in with a first time post and walked away with "The first place Prize" such as it is.
Ever since we had a half a year of no contests, and ever since the voting became public, our contests have suffered from a lack of entries.
Since we cannot undo these two hindrances all I know to suggest is to beat the drum loudly.
