Related: About this forumI am celebrating my 149,000 post!
This hammer was a gift from the good people who built a new roof on our home, last year, right before the rains started in earnest.

Being a member of DU and of the Photo Group has brought me new friends, new knowledge and hours of fun and adventure. This post also celebrates all of you, because you've helped me achieve so much.
Many, many thanks!

(156,619 posts)I like my new name.
I won't ever run out since I erase the files as soon as they're in my computer. Unless I'm traveling, that is. Then I save them to upload into my desktop computer. Even so, I've never run out of space! I came close--once!

(40,575 posts)I feel so lucky to have made some wonderful friends here on DU and I count you among them! Thank you for your words of encouragement and for always being the brightest light on DU!
CaliforniaPeggy
(156,619 posts)And I count you among my wonderful friends! It's funny; how can we be friends when we've never talked face to face, or even electronically? But there it is. Connections can be made, and are, all the time right here. They benefit us all.
Your kind words mean so much. My bright light may not shine as brightly these days, but be sure it's still inside me, waiting for the proper moment to resurface.

(36,631 posts)A flower for your milestone:

Thanks to the wonder of cameras, I can give that away without risking getting a hammer to the head.
CaliforniaPeggy
(156,619 posts)I used my light box to create it. It was a bit of a challenge (the hammer is pretty big!) but I met that challenge.
And thank you for the wonderful flower! Is it growing out of a cactus? Quite lovely!
I am not violent! The thought of using a hammer on anyone is horrifying to me!
Hermit-The-Prog
(36,631 posts)Many 16 oz framing hammers with ripping claws have fiberglas handles. That one is clearly wooden. The black background shows off the polished, hardened steel head and the warm wood.
The bloom is on some kind of plant my wife has lugged in and out of the house, according to season, for years. It's not a cactus but may be related. Most of the time it's just a scraggly looking thing with scattered leaves as seen in that photo. Until it bloomed, I thought she was nuts to hang on to it, much less carry it inside and out and make room for it.
Oh, I wouldn't fear your use of the hammer. She probably wouldn't use it on me, either, I was just using a bit of hyperbole to emphasize that messing with her plants is just completely unacceptable.
CaliforniaPeggy
(156,619 posts)And believe me, the handle on the hammer is most definitely WOOD. It's solid and a bit heavy.

(53,214 posts)There aren't too many things that I've done for 20+ years, so that's saying something about DU. It gives one a sense of continuity. I'm frequently surprised at how many early members are still here.

(8,923 posts)that fixed your roof. You're not supposed to hit anything with it. You're supposed to call CAP when you need your railing repaired, or recommend them to your friends. You are constitutionally incapable of hurting anything, and a great photographer too. Pelple notice these things. I'm another people.
CaliforniaPeggy
(156,619 posts)Yeah, I know. Mostly they do roofs. And they are damned good at it too.
If I'm really angry about something (yeah, it happens) the worst I do is yell! It's pretty impressive, but also very rare.
I hear you about people noticing. It's way cool!
