Well, got a copy of aperture for my Mac

I think it will help to do some post processing, especially with some black and white.

But I've used GIMP since OSX 10.5 killed my Photoshop, and I'm not sure what I may gain by switching.

the photo because it is harder in GIMP.

B&W conversion is easy in GIMP with the plugins.

2.8 has really improved usability greatly. The menu has moved from the window to the menu bar. Yeah

In the metadata, including speed, f-stop when available, kit lens, and all that jazz. It could be useful just as a learning tool for young photographers.

Of course, I use Lightroom, so I don't know off the top of my head if Aperture has a library but if it does I could see that having an impact.
