*****Poll*****March contest search for theme

Many suggestions came in, quickly, I liked that because it means to me that maybe the interest in our contests is picking up again.

I picked a few but not all of them in order not to overwhelm us, and decided to poll you guys on five of them for a short couple of days.
Don't ponder the options too long. VOTE.

My suggestion is:
A Photographers Favorite
We all have a few photos that are just dear to us, and that we are pleased with, but they don't make it into a contest theme or to the forefront somehow.
In this category, it can be any subject, any presentation you chose. Color - B/W- Sepia- photoshopped - infrared - different shape, not exceeding 800 on the longest side.
Anything you have that you want to show off. On this one I would like the title to be descriptive of YOUR relationship to the image, if possible.

Glass & Chrystal
The interpretation is up to you. These can be precious stones, windows, ice sculptures, close ups, macros. If it can break and is shiny it will work.

Wind
Objects/landscapes or people in the wind can also be photographed in the after effects. This could be including storm photos as long as the origin is wind.

Low aspect photos - images taken close to the ground. Picture yourself flat on your tummy looking around

and finally
Color objects or subjects or happenings involving vivid color. For those B/W is not accepted

Edited to add:
I think the decision about size is not yet made officially. I am unfortunately hindered by the new photo bucket having been released without the ability to size stuff - so I must ask the photos to be submitted in the 800 x 600 size we are used to.
If you do that, and send them to me in a pm, I'm willing to do the contest with blind submissions.
I think the first category, if the descriptions are more personal, this may be especially valuable.

especially if you know whose photo it is, and if the subject is dear to the heart and personal. I'd like to see all this presented anonymously for the voters.

amd it pains me but I cannot enter a photo... the topics are all pretty good.. photographers favorite is nice but I really like when a contest is directed because it gives focus and more unity to the contest

if I were voting I would go with glass/crystal

favorites to choose from so my vote went elsewhere!

Actually I think I'm suffering from photography burnout, so maybe I need a good challenge!

8. Sorry I missed the option for suggestions of a theme

I'm not on the web too much lately - and don't always check all my favorite links

Anyways, whomever reads this and gets to choose the following month's theme

I suggest the theme be something along the lines of Winter's departure and/or Spring's arrival

I live in Northern Ontario Canada - and as much as we love some of our winter months - we do appreciate the snow disappearing, and the greenery and wildlife reemerging . .

I voted for the first category, and it will indeed be a PERSONAL entry from photos I have taken over the years

Question Mira - your post says "if the descriptions are more personal" I didn't think we were allowed comments on our submissions (albeit in the comments thread which is different and alot of people don't go there) are comments allowed in the submission thread?

Not to worry, I'll make the Submission Title personal and descriptive

I did not chose it because there is still lots of snow in many areas right now, and in a short while we will have the seasonal contest for "Spring" where the photos of the waking up earth could be used.

Your last line is what I am after in the title: "Personal and descriptive".
Comments of substance will still go into the comment thread.
Glad you voted, and don't forget us during the time to submit a photo.

I kinda lean towards A Photographers Favorite, as as far as I know, there has never been a free-for-all contest.
But I have a few Crystal and on the ground photos.

I just don't want win the grand prize, though.

I'm having such a hard time with these photography contests. I never hear about them until the deadline is past and I am asked to vote on the winners. Well, I'd like to post some pics so they can be voted on by others. How do I do this?

You came to the photo group. That's the start. Look around. Read posts. Scroll down and see all the posts by JohnnyRingo who ran the February contest from start to finish.
Then you see how the Feb contest came about.

Then start reading mine about the March contest.
by that time you are catching on.
Have you uploaded photos before?

PM me after you have done the familiarizing yourself I describe, and find a photo you really love to submit for March. I'll help you get it in the coming contest.

I have always had a picture in mind for all of the various contests - but really, I have never figured out how to enter any of them. I also tried to send you a private message. but it send I haven't posted enough (even though I have read you all for years).

It seems like if I send this I can then communicate with you, but that doesn't mean I can upload my winter photograph... At least I don't see a place for attachments - even though that is how I have always sent my pics...

Sorry, but still need help....
